6 Rules you must respect to succeed on social media - PART 1 Facebook

“Your business must be on social media!” is a common saying these days for an obvious reason: your customers are on social media! Being on social media is not a question any more.

The only question is; how can you be successful on social platforms?

There are a lot of social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram… You must pick the right platform based on your business and your goals! You don’t have to be present on all platforms, you just have to create your community based on your target audience and the people that are and will be interested in your business.

For each social media platform, there are different rules to respect. In this first part, I’ll give you hints and tips for Facebook.

1. Know your audience

This is essential to ensure that you produce the right content for your page so that it is engaging and grows organically. If you know your audience you can post content that is remarkable and shareable. The only way you can produce great content is when you know who you are producing it for!

2. Publish posts with links to other sites, not just to your own site

If you want to have credibility and not come across as if it is all about you, post links to other websites. The links should be in relation to your business activity and to the interests of your audience. Consider infographics, eBooks, promotional videos, and articles that add value to the audience.

3. Publish pictures to boost engagement

Over the past few years, pictures have proven to be particularly engaging as they have an emotional impact on your audience. People are far more likely to engage with your post if it includes a visual.

4. Measure your impact

Facebook Insights offers a pretty comprehensive report with key statistics that you need to measure the impact of your Facebook activities. This is critical to help you adapt your strategy and content plan.

5. Use relevant hashtags

Hashtags are a good way to expend your business through raising awareness across social media platforms by making your content more visible. Use relevant hashtags on your Facebook posts to leverage your brand, your content and what’s trending.

6. Reply to comments

To gain trust from your audience, make sure you engage with them, particularly when they initiate a conversation. Make sure that you respond to all comments. This shows that you are for real, that you care and that you have nothing to hide!
